the first act

Today was a most tiresome day indeed. I have managed to secure the role of the chivalrous Pyramus in the up coming act "the most lamentable comedy of Pyramus and Thisbe" all this was achieved with a simple demonstration of my acting prowess. It was in a room in a cottage on a hot afternoon. Gathered in the room were quince the carpenter, snug the joiner, flute the bellows mender, snout the tinker, starveling the tailor and lastly, myself. We had congregated there to decide the roles we should be getting for the upcoming play. We sat down to discuss the roles which we would be getting, and I acted out all the individual roles of the characters with much vigor, until quince wisely deemed me suitable to play the role of gallant pyramus.I shall act graceful as a lion, and charming as a swan. And lest the women are frightened I shall aggravate my acting such that should they shriek, it would be out of awe. Quince himself had confessed that only I would be suitable to play the role of such a proper man, and a gentleman-like one at that. Thus, I have agreed to undertake such an important role. It is decided that we shall meet in the remote forest where hardly a soul lingers, to rehearse for the play for if we meet in the city, we would be dogged with company and our devices known. In the meantime, I shall go prepare the necessary items. Adieu~
